Autumn is in full swing and the last few weeks have been filled with the excitement of fairs, celebrations and bonfires. It seems that no sooner are we out of summer that the Christmas season and countdown is on and plans are starting to take shape.

Personally, this year I am in complete denial that December is just around the corner and can’t even begin to contemplate decorations being hung. Traditionally my home is full of a very neutral colour palette and a bright array of colours is not something I ever introduce.

However, with the dark nights and cost of living gloom I have been inspired over the last few weeks by the bold, bright lights of the local fair and rainbow-coloured flames of the fireworks on bonfire night. Maybe it is time to add a burst of colour to lift the mood even if it is just through a bunch of flowers!
